Greyfriars Footbridge in Shrewsbury will be closed from 9.30am to 4pm on Friday 23 October 2026 for essential maintenance work. The bridge provides a pedestrian link between the town centre and Longden Coleham.
What the work involves
The maintenance will involve surface repairs on the approaches to the bridge at both ends to help maintain pedestrian safety. During the work the bridge will be fully closed to pedestrians and cyclists, and there will be restricted access to the immediate work area for members of the public.
