Shrewsbury Town drew 1-1 with Hereford in an entertaining pre-season friendly at Edgar Street. The match proved competitive despite its friendly status, with Town creating numerous chances but ultimately sharing the points.
How the match unfolded
Hereford took the lead early through Billy Phillips, who struck an excellent goal in the opening minutes. Shrewsbury responded positively, with Will Boyle, Sam Stubbs, Isaac England, Isaac Fletcher and Josh Davison all coming close before half-time.
Town equalised in the 66th minute when George Lloyd finished beautifully from distance. After that, Arkell Jude-Boyd, Kevin Berkoe and Jeval Thompson-McKenzie all had chances to win the match.
Manager's view
Manager Gavin Cowan reflected on a dominant performance from his side. He joked that Hereford's goal was living a charmed life given the volume of chances Shrewsbury created. Cowan also provided a fitness update and assessed Town's remaining pre-season schedule, with just one friendly left before competitive action begins.
