Shrewsbury Town Foundation's Youth Employability Hub has placed 90 young people into paid employment between March and July this year, as the scheme continues its work tackling youth unemployment across Shropshire.
The Hub, now almost halfway through its third year, has engaged 135 young people during the same period. Operating in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the initiative targets 18-24-year-olds seeking work in the region.
Support Beyond Job Placement
Beyond securing employment, the Youth Hub offers one-to-one meetings with participants and hosts monthly skill days designed to help young people develop abilities across different sectors.
Lee Hadley, the Foundation's Employability Manager, said: "Youth unemployment is a national priority. In our experience, most young people just want a foot on the ladder. We aim to motivate and support them achieve this."
One participant reflected on the scheme's impact, saying: "I felt like someone believed in me."
